The Law Office “Padva & Partners” is preparing documents for taking part in the fifth annual rating of law firms of «Pravo.Ru-300». Year by year more and more law firms and attorneys at law, including foreign law firms, participate in the ranking.
“It is curious that some of our colleagues are most concerned about the disclosure of financial information: some lawyers include revenue generated by lawyers working in Russian offices into the foreign parents’ income, others simply do not show all of their income, receiving their fees either in offshore jurisdictions, or directly into the pocket. We do not bother about the financial disclosure of the Law Office, as it does not affect the interests of our clients and objectively reflects the results of our work. The most difficult for us is to present information about important projects on specific specializations. To include the information in the rating every time we ask for an agreement of the client to specify his name and essence of the project, the only exceptions are the cases where our participation in the project is already well-known fact, that happens extremely seldom”, - said Mrs. Sergeeva.
For this reason, it is possible that Law Office would refuse to participate in the ranking for certain types of practices, as customers are not always ready to confirm the disclosure of information about the project, especially about the cost of the project that is required to participate in the ranking. As for criminal cases, the situation is even more complicated: almost nobody allows to mention that there were criminal charges against him, even if it was later terminated at the stage of preliminary investigation or this person was acquitted.
«It is obvious that not only we are faced with such problems, that is why the rating certainly does not reflect all of the realities of the legal services market», - Mrs. Sergeeva pointed out.
According to public information, «Pravo.ru» is one of the largest Russian legal reference systems. The database of the portal contains over 20 million documents, including legal acts, court records and other normative legal documents.
